Purple haze

I love this outfit, it's cute and comfortable, can't go wrong with that. The purple top was given to me from my grandma. I have no idea where she got it. It's very soft and the color is my favorite. I paired it with a collared shirt. I felt like I was drowning in the top so I added a belt to show a figure. I love over-sized shirts like this paired with leggings. I also like that my nails are contrasting, it gives the outfit a cool vibe.

Didn't blog yesterday as I spent the entire day cleaning. My bathroom and room were horrific. A good cleaning was long overdue. Today I ordered a black pair of booties. Ones that look like Jeffrey Campbell's Litas, but are a fraction of the cost. I like brand names for some things, but I tend to beat up shoes within the first months. I definitely don't want to spend money on something only to be careless and ruin them. I'm excited for tomorrow, I'll be spending the entire day with my love. We don't get to do that normally during the week, mostly just the weekends. Maybe we'll go do something fun, I hope.

Don't know if you can tell, but I lightened the blonde part of my hair some more. I wanted it to be this light when I first did the ombre hair thing. My hair was so dark though it didn't lighten that well. So now it's perfect. It's a little dry now. But I've been testing a certain hair mask that I'll be reviewing soon.

Sail away to Never Never Land

Top Forever 21
Shorts old
Tights Forever 21
Cardigan old
Earings Charlotte Russe
Ring Charlotte Russe
I'm currently obsessing over Peter Pan collars, they're lovely. This was my outfit for the day. Yes, I know my blouse got wrinkled...I couldn't be bothered to iron it just for this post. I wanted to get a better shot of my shorts but my camera batteries died in the middle of my shoot. I may have frightened my neighbors with the profanity I used. Oops! These earings are my favorite. I had been wanting them for a couple of weeks until I finally decided to purchase them. And I love the print on this blouse. I'm still debating whether I like this cardigan with the outfit, but I'm just gonna go with it. Today was a static day. The only highlights were getting my eyelashes I ordered a week ago. I purchased 50 pairs! And making a fool of myself when the bf and I got dinner. Sometimes I'm a serious ditz. Oh well. Anyway, I would love to hear every one's take on prints and Peter Pan collars, who's hooked like me?

Chatterbox week 4

Do I look like I'm from the 50's/60's? Ha
Wow! A month already?! I can't believe I've been blogging that long already. That month just flew by. A lot has changed in the course of a month, speaking of myself. I'm finally pushing myself into the right direction. Beginning things I've wanted to do for forever. It's the new and improved Jessica that I wanted for 2012 and beyond. I'm excited for this year, it's proving itself to be a good one thus far.

Let's bring it back down now Jessica. I've had a great week. I've been getting packages in the mail, about every other day, oops! Mainly clothes. I'm very excited to piece them into outfits, and of course share with you all of my ideas. I'm no fashion guru, but I have styles I like. Yesterday I spent the entire day 'trying' to sew. Which is the reason I didn't post. I ended the day in tears because I messed everything up. Yes, I know I'm a baby. But at least I'm not giving up. I have a lot of projects going on at the moment and I'll be blogging about them very soon, I can't wait. What was every one's weekend like? I hope it was great!

Look at them arches

Salon Perfect Brow Powder and Stencil Combo in Taupe

Elf Studio Eyebrow Kit Gel & Medium Powder

Tweezerman and brow brush

I don't know how long I've been filling in my brows, since the beginning of time maybe? My brows are light and have lighter hairs around the arches. Filling them in is the easier way, rather than dealing with tints etc. For a while I was just purchasing a matte eyeshadow. That worked fine, but I never managed to pick a right color, or somehow managed to use the wrong applicator and ended up with glitter brows. Sounds wonderful, huh? I found these stencils first. It comes with four stencils, powder and applicator. I loved these stencils, I have a shaky hand and can never seem to get things symmetrical. I use the elegant stencil, it resembles my normal eyebrow shape the best. The thing I didn't like about this product is the powder. I just don't think I like powders in general, they're a bit messy. I purchased the Elf eyebrow kit about a week ago and I fell in love with the gel. It helps with precision around the arches. It also comes with a setting powder. I use it on the bigger part of my brows. I also love that the applicator has two sides; arched and rounded bristles. I think using the stencils with the eyebrow kit works perfectly, I won't be giving up gels for filling in my brows. I also use a Tweezerman for shaping them. I love these, I've had this pair for years and they still work wonderfully. These have to be the best ones out there. I use a regular brow brush. And as you can see, it's probably time for a new one, poor thing has been through a lot.

Yesterday I took the day off from blogging so that I could spend time with my wonderful bf. He works different times, so it's nice to have our quality time. I've also been in project mode. I have quite a few things going on right now. As you know, or don't know, I'm teaching myself to sew. More specifically, dresses. I've been wanting to do so for a very long time, so I'm making it happen this year. It's definitely a lot harder than I expected. And I guess it doesn't help that I'm not even using a pattern, I've decided to make my own entirely. Very, very ambitious, I know, I just can't help myself. Also, I've been preparing a guest blog post for an adorable online boutique called Frock Stock. I'm very excited, my date and topic will be shown here. As well as all the other wonderful bloggers, you should check it out. There's still a few more spaces available, so get over there if you would like to participate. I've been thinking about doing a thrifty shopping spree. I love the idea of altering clothes that I can get from thrift stores.
Sorry for the long blog, I guess that's what happens when you skip a day.

Marilyn lips

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick - Matte Really Red 006
I've always feared red lipstick. There are so many shades of red and I wasn't sure how to pick one. I've heard if you choose the wrong shade you might make your teeth look yellow. I've been wanting the luscious red lip look for a while. So about a week ago I picked this lipstick up on a whim. I had no idea if it would work or not. I have to say I've worn this almost everyday this week. It's lovely. No yellow teeth look either. No pictures of that, so you'll just have to trust me on this statement. I don't know the undertones in this lipstick..purple, orange? I'm not so good with that sort of thing. For me, I just like to experiment. I got lucky with this shade. I love the boldness of it, I'm sure it would make Marilyn proud. Like my other Revlon lipsticks, it isn't sticky feeling. The only downside, as with other lipsticks too, is it stains your lips and skin. I'm just extra careful when applying and makeup remover takes it off just fine. Who else loves red lips? Is anyone afraid to pick the wrong color like I was?

Fur & stripes

Nails Pure Ice Kiss Me Here & Wet n Wild French White Creme
Today's OOTD. The weather man was right today, it's starting to feel a lot like spring. Which is great, I can start peeling off the layers. Today isn't a very busy day. Going to be picking up my sewing machine in a few since I missed it Saturday. I'll be spending the rest of my night practicing my stitches, should go interesting, to say the least. As long as I don't sew my fingers the first day, I'll consider that progress. I'm going to print out patterns here shortly. It's exciting, everything is falling into place.

I'll tweet my progress, follow me.

Secret garden

Dress Charlotte Russe
Jacket Urban Outfitters

Necklace Old Navy
Tights Forever 21
Nails Wet n Wild Tickled Pink NYC Starry Silver Glitter Pure Ice Spit Fire

As you've probably noticed by now, I'm loving this necklace. It took me a while to find the perfect key necklace and now that I have it, I just can't take it off. (of course not literally) Am I the only one wishing spring would get here already? As you can see I'm channeling it with this dress. I'm in love with this dress. The flowers are gorgeous. I bought it for a wedding last year and have been wanting to wear it as street style. I'm also growing bored of this hairstyle. But since I'm growing out my bangs it's the only thing I can do. *sob* I should probably stock up on vitamins to make them grow faster, hmm.

Chatterbox week 3

I know, I know terrible phone picture!
So this week has just flown by! I can't believe how fast it's gone. It wasn't too eventful for me. The biggest thing this week was the house hunting my bf and I did. We made an offer on a house on Friday. We still haven't heard back from the other agent yet. We're keeping our fingers crossed but if we didn't get it, then it wasn't meant to be. We'll just keep searching. Also this week I bought a lot of stuff. A new camera tripod, a sewing machine, clothes, shoes, endless amounts of makeup, 50 pairs of eyelashes etc etc. And on that note, just know I have some reviews lined up on products. So yesterday I missed the post lady. She came to deliver my sewing machine but I didn't hear her so I won't get it until Tuesday. Bummer. But once I do have it, let the dress making commece. I'm so excited and already have tons of ideas and have found plenty of patterns to manipulate. Okay, well it's back to my lazy Sunday now, goodnight bloggers!

Strawberry Shortcake vs. Oompa Loompa

My hand is on the right, clearly.
Okay, so if you haven't guessed it, this blog is about beauty blunders. These are my worst! A little more than a year ago, I wanted to have a red tint in my hair, nothing drastic. So I went to Sally's and picked up products I 'thought' would work. I had a friend help me apply the color. I can not tell you how shocked I was when I saw myself in the mirror afterwards. You'd think I would've suspected something after the fuchsia shower I took. *so naive* I was horrified! Pink hair is cool, but I couldn't feel comfortable enough for the stares that came with such a hairstyle. And I definitely got looks! This late night rendezvous turned into a three day affair; I didn't want to ruin my hair. Having to go to work the next day and explain to your boss that it was a complete accident and that you were not trying to be insubordinate, such an awkward conversation. She was great about it, and started calling me strawberry shortcake, it stuck for a little while.  It honestly looked like mermaid Barbie hair!

Last summer I decided to get my first ever airbrush tan. I thought that since someone was spraying me themselves that nothing could go wrong. I had heard horror stories about the spray booths and didn't want to risk it. Those of you who have had a spray tan before know that you must: 1) exfoliate and 2) not wear lotion the day of. They give you special lotion for your hands, elbows, knees and feet. I have such dry, dry hands they absorbed ALL the moisturizer. When the spray ran down to my hands, my knuckles absorbed the solution like a sponge and I was left with 'dirty' 'oompa loompa' hands for about two weeks! I haven't gotten a spray since! *sigh* I wish I were naturally darker. I have olive skin and tan easily but I'm so afraid of premature aging on my skin. Maybe I'll just stick to tinted moisturizer, never had a problem with them before...

If you're not too embarrassed...I would love to hear (or see) other beauty blunders (horror stories is probably more like it lol). It happens to the best of us...all we can do is laugh afterwards, right?

Wine kisses

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Matte Wine Not (010)
I have become quite a lipstick collector. And Revlon Matte shades are my favorite. I picked this one up today. I think it's a gorgeous shade. I was a little nervous when I purchased it though, I wasn't sure if I would look silly in it, or if it would be too dark. But I'm in love with the color. It's perfect for a dramatic look. I usually play on the safe side with colors and I've been wanting to step out of my comfort zone for awhile. This was a great purchase! What do you think of it? Oh and please excuse my messy top knot, today was a lazy day.

I did go house shopping today, though. We found a beaut! We made an offer and we're hoping everything goes in our favor *crosses fingers*. Also, I'm going to be making a mini studio to photograph products in, bed sheet photos are getting a little old...

Guerlain Ombre Eclat Eyeshadow Pallette

Guerlain Ombre Eclat Eyeshadow Palette in Velours D'or (410)

I received this eyeshadow palette as a gift not too long ago. I didn't know how much it cost then, I looked it it up and it's over $50! The palette came with a soft black pouch to protect it, it had a cute bumblebee looking thing on the front. However, I got it filthy with makeup and had to throw it out. *tears* When I first got the product the eyeshadows were imprinted with cute designs. The gold had the bumblebee and the rest had pretty loops. I can't tell you how much I love these eyeshadows. They are perfect colors for me, I adore the purple (and gold!). I also like that the palette comes with two applicators: a shadow and an eyeliner. The quality of them is great. They are foam-like, they feel like a Tempur Pedic bed! Unlike cheap ones in store brand palettes, the cotton part doesn't falls off after one use. These are durable. The eyeshadow goes on great and has good pigments. The darker shades don't go on sheer, like cheaper versions might. You get what you see. One would expect this from such a classy makeup name. After all, Guerlain has had 175 years of practice (since 1828!). *wow* For the price however, I don't see myself dropping the $50+ for it...unless I won the lottery.

Went to the birthday party I talked about yesterday and just got back a little bit ago. And boy, I have to say I am not ready for children yet! It was absolute chaos there. Kids screaming, dogs barking, cartoons blasting. I like my peace, for now. I had actually planned on an outfit post today, but I wasn't feeling the pictures of myself so I decided to go with the eyeshadow. My sewing machine should be here soon, I can't wait. Also, I am finally off the wait list for Birchbox. I am now signed up and will be getting next month's box. I cancelled my Julep Maven subscription. I like there products, but I just don't feel they are worth the $20 a month.
