Strawberry Shortcake vs. Oompa Loompa

My hand is on the right, clearly.
Okay, so if you haven't guessed it, this blog is about beauty blunders. These are my worst! A little more than a year ago, I wanted to have a red tint in my hair, nothing drastic. So I went to Sally's and picked up products I 'thought' would work. I had a friend help me apply the color. I can not tell you how shocked I was when I saw myself in the mirror afterwards. You'd think I would've suspected something after the fuchsia shower I took. *so naive* I was horrified! Pink hair is cool, but I couldn't feel comfortable enough for the stares that came with such a hairstyle. And I definitely got looks! This late night rendezvous turned into a three day affair; I didn't want to ruin my hair. Having to go to work the next day and explain to your boss that it was a complete accident and that you were not trying to be insubordinate, such an awkward conversation. She was great about it, and started calling me strawberry shortcake, it stuck for a little while.  It honestly looked like mermaid Barbie hair!

Last summer I decided to get my first ever airbrush tan. I thought that since someone was spraying me themselves that nothing could go wrong. I had heard horror stories about the spray booths and didn't want to risk it. Those of you who have had a spray tan before know that you must: 1) exfoliate and 2) not wear lotion the day of. They give you special lotion for your hands, elbows, knees and feet. I have such dry, dry hands they absorbed ALL the moisturizer. When the spray ran down to my hands, my knuckles absorbed the solution like a sponge and I was left with 'dirty' 'oompa loompa' hands for about two weeks! I haven't gotten a spray since! *sigh* I wish I were naturally darker. I have olive skin and tan easily but I'm so afraid of premature aging on my skin. Maybe I'll just stick to tinted moisturizer, never had a problem with them before...

If you're not too embarrassed...I would love to hear (or see) other beauty blunders (horror stories is probably more like it lol). It happens to the best of us...all we can do is laugh afterwards, right?

    1. Nope, definitely not funny at the time but now I laugh about it all the time. It's such a bummer when things don't go how you hoped, especially when you payed money for it...lol

  3. OK. Mine is definitely hair color. I dyed my own hair color from copper to black (my original) for the first time. I had no idea that my hair was so thick, and had only enough formula for half my head. And it was too late to buy another bottle. So, I had to show up at the office (and my office at the time was business-y) with left half of my head in black and the other half in copper. Very bad. Everyone stared at me.

    1. Omg!! I would have lied and said I was sick. I would have been so embarrassed! You poor thing! :( I would've tried to make a huge joke out of it too just to feel better about it. I also need two boxes of dye. The first time I did mine I didn't know, thankfully the color was so close to my original and you could barely tell!

    1. I think I'm going to have too! And just embrace my natural olive skin. Rather than chasing after an unatural shade of tan lol

  9. Haha you look cute with pink hair!
I myself have had many hair disasters haha. I've died my hair many bright colors (pink, pink & blue, pink & yellow, etc.) and I've always done it myself because I'm stubborn and think that I can! Needless to say...something almost ALWAYS goes wrong when I do it! I always end up fixing it, but it's so frustrating at the time! Usually the problem is that I run out of dye! My hair is super thick so when I buy boxed dye, I need 3 boxes! So often times when I dye my hair at night, I'll end up with half a head of pink and half a head of bleach blonde, and have to wait a day or two to have someone get me hair dye because I can't leave the house! haha.
I've never had a spray tan, because I'm always afraid it will end horribly wrong haha! x

    1. Haha I always do my own hair too. I just hav a fear of hairdressers because I've had terrible experiences. I swear no one knows how to do my hair correctly. I think I'm going to stay away from the fake tans from now on, and just stay natural or tan from the real sun lol

    2. Haha I know exactly how you could feel...I always leave with something that I did not ask for! And I wish I could tan in the sun, I'm half irish and I just turn into a lobster! x

    3. Yes, I know they are professionals but I never get what I ask for "/ it's sad. That sucks! It's the native american in me, I'm so thankful for it! lol :)

  11. Haha, great post! I know the hair dye mishaps all too well. My first experience was a semi-permanent red which was supposed to wash out in three washes...more like six months! xxx
